What is sugar waxing?

Sugar waxing is a common term used to describe sugaring, though true sugaring differs fundamentally from traditional waxing techniques. In sugar waxing, an organic sugar paste made of sugar, water, and lemon juice is used instead of resin-based wax to remove unwanted body hair.

The primary distinction comes down to application and removal methods. Traditional waxing applies warm wax in the direction of hair growth and rips it off against the hair growth using cloth or paper strips. Sugaring molds body-temperature sugar paste against hair growth and flicks it off in the natural direction of growth. This key difference makes sugar waxing gentler on sensitive skin, significantly less painful, and far less likely to cause hair breakage, redness, or painful ingrown hairs.
